More news on the spread of SMC!

LVHRD headquarters has been buzzing ever since we got our hands on this. It seems that Levi’s, the San Francisco based denim giant, is poised to launch a line of heavily-branded cell phones in 2007. From the press release:

Levi Strauss Europe and Modelabs Group announced today an exclusive licensing agreement to design, produce, market and distribute a range of mobile phones and mobile phone accessories for men and women under the Levi’s® brand label.

Drawing its inspiration from the iconic roots of the Levi’s brand, the collection will be a youthful and sexy take on the brand heritage: denim, rivets and the arcuate.

While a careful eye was all it took to spot and avoid a cellular telephone, the source of SMC, the new year will bring cell phones disguised as blue-jeans. A future in which the most successful clothing product is paired with the most dangerous piece of consumer electronics is indeed a dangerous one.

It goes unsaid as to weather or not these riveted cell phones will make their way across the pond, but the threat they pose serves as a huge step forward for SMC, and a blue, five-pocketed step back for public health.
