Anti aging facial spas and telomerase enzyme – what works?
January 30, 2010 on 7:08 am | By admin | In Health | Comments OffDo those cleansing spa facials really work to reduce your wrinkles and other signs of aging? Michelle Palmer a 36-year-old white-collar worker from Manhattan thought so. But after several years of jumping from spa to spa and several exfoliating skin cleanses later, she finds her self-unsure as to their effectiveness. There are a number of facials; peels and scrubs available to women and men alike, each spa advertising their treatment as being better than the others. It’s big business and a competitive one at that.So what is the truth behind these products that claim to repair and rejuvenate the skin? There are a lot of skeptics that accuse spa owners of over hyping their claims as a way to market their treatments to a hungry audience of middle aged women wanting to stay young. One particular spa is offering a special treatment called an ‘Oxygen Facial’, which supposedly helps the user to produce natural collagen and regenerate new cell growth. This sounds wonderful, but these claims are unfortunately not backed up with any scientific proof. Another spa with several retail branches in different cities, offers its customers a face-lift without the need for any surgical tools. In place of surgeon knives and anesthetics, this treatment uses a special form of electrical current called a ‘micro current’, which claims to tone and lift certain muscles on the patients face. It is difficult to take these forms of treatment seriously, without having heard any positively proven results. One particular customer has commented that the simple act of massaging a persons face will bring on a slight swelling, which gives a youthful effect. On the positive side, standard facials are an effective way to rejuvenate your skin and keep it fresh and clean. Three of the more popular methods are exfoliation, microdermabrasion and a glycolic peel. These forms of skin treatment are known to give visible results, each with their own special action. For example if you’re looking to get rid of a bad case of acne, then you might want to try using a salicylic peel. If you feel like your skin is dead, dry and you want a youthful glow, then going for a microdermabrasion or simple exfoliation should give you the effective results that you want.It seems as if these more expensive anti aging facial treatments are not living up to our expectations. Dr Avrielle Kauver the director of a well know skin treatment business in Manhattan goes as far as, not recommending the fancy named anti aging treatments to her customers, and instead advises them to purchase a botox shot. Her reasoning is that a botox shot will cost you half the price of a specialized treatment and it’s guaranteed to reduce your wrinkles for a period of time. Or use one of those products that are proven to stop the aging process like anti-aging Reneuve telomerase enzyme or HGH.
