The Acai Berry is touted by many industries as being superior for one reason or another. For example in the food world it is considered a super-food full of anti aging antioxidants and more. And in the beauty department the acai berry is being used in more and more products. In order to understand the benefits of the Acai Berry, it is important to understand exactly what it is.

The Acai Berry is a fruit that is deep red in color and is about an inch long. Some might even consider the fruit a purplish color. South America is it’s originator, where it comes from a palm tree called the Euterpe oleracea. It is considered to be a relative of the blueberry, cranberry, prune and other darker colored fruits found around the world. Scientific studies are gauged toward the benefits and antioxidant abilities of the Acai Berry. It is thought that the berry can help prevent certain diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

High in flavonoids it is already known that the Acai Berry is a healthy staple of any diet. Although studies are still being conducted to narrow down specifics, it’s thought that the berry is higher in antioxidants that most any other berry we already know to be extremely good for you such as blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. With that said, there is no known benefits the Acai Berry has over these other fruits at this particular time. On the other hand, some studies do show an increased amount of weight loss in those trying to slim down using the Acai Berry compared to those who eat traditional fruits like the blueberry.

Acai oil is considered the powerhouse of where the antioxidants originate within the berry which is why the oil is used in beauty products. Research shows that the oil might be better than other tropical oils used in facial and body lotions as well in hopes that the products will be effective in anti-aging and skin tightening. As for the fruit, it is just as safe as any other to consume and there is no reason to question it’s safety.
