Used SEAT Market
March 7, 2010 on 5:08 am | By admin | In Health and Fitness | Comments OffOriginally founded by the Spanish government and Italian car maker Fiat in 1950, the Spanish Touring Car Company (SEAT) took a substantial leap forward after its acquisition by the Volkswagen Group in 1990. Over the last twenty years, SEAT automobiles have become quite popular in Europe and the UK, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Central and South America. This has established a market a low-mileage Used SEAT market that has further increased awareness of the brand as a line of sporty yet reliable autos. The trend may have all started with the company’s decision to begin competing in motor sports two decades ago.
The two sports in which the SEAT (pronounced say-at) has excelled are Rallying and Touring Car events. The first foray into Rallying was made with a somewhat humble front wheel drive SEAT Ibiza. A highly modified Ibiza became three time world champion beginning in 1996, and the car’s future recognition as a sport model was assured. (New and Used SEAT Ibizas are still the company’s best selling models.) The company’s involvement in Touring Car competitions began after the new millennium using Audi diesel engine technology, and that story is still being written.
Meantime, due to their increase in popularity, some really good deals exist in the Used SEAT Ibiza market. Versions of these well known minis include the three door Sport Coupe and the five-door Hatchback, and they’re tough, hot little cars. A quick check on the Internet shows several late model Ibizas driven for well under 10,000 miles, and with a price of under 10,000 pounds.
Today, the seat factory located in Martorell, Spain – near Barcelona – employs more than 14,000 workers and makes upwards of half a million vehicles a year. While the looks of New and even some Used SEAT models may look a little more German influenced that they used to, there is little doubt that the company has prospered as a result of ownership by the Volkswagen group, as well as the company’s decision to try a new direction and go racing some twenty years ago.
