Don’t take the symptoms of malaria for granted

It is not uncommon for people to return from malarious regions of the world infected with the infamous disease only to return to normal life without having yet displayed any of the Symptoms of Malaria. Time passes and whatever trip or excursion they went on when they were unfortunate enough to have been bitten by a plasmodium carrying mosquito, becomes but a memory. However as the time passes this does not make the malaria infection that lays dormant in their body any less of a threat. The problem that these unfortunate people face as time does go by is that the symptoms of malaria are much the same as symptoms of the flu, a fluctuating temperature, muscular pain, sickness to name the main culprits. It is all to easy to mistake these symptoms of malaria for the flu or a cold and just soldier on as normal without even giving a thought to visiting a doctor let alone taking into consideration that the problem is a result of their previous venture abroad.

With this being the case these people are unknowingly putting themselves in great danger of the disease developing as they just take these symptoms for granted and expect them to pass after a week or so with a bit of rest and the usual flu fighting remedies. Those lucky enough to have people around them to help them get to a hospital when the later symptoms of malaria take place such as the fits and delirium can get treatment before it is too late but others who live or work alone can find themselves facing a potentially fatal situation as following these later Symptoms of Malaria is a coma and without anybody to come to your aid your days could be numbered. It is so important to make a note of when you have returned form a malaria hot spot and also remain vigilant to the fact that malaria symptoms are the same of those experienced through the flu so that you and those around you ensure that you seek medical advice for at least 18 months after you return home, your life could just depend on it!
